Santiago de Compostela hosted the first official to kick off the European Union funded project FanBest

The FANBEST project, focused on the Blue Economy, has been presented today at the installations of the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The Vice-Dean of Innovation and Research, Vicente Pérez Muñuzuri, was in charge of welcoming the different partners and the audience. On the other hand, the coordinator of FANBEST and member of the Research Group of Applied Financing Assessment of the USC, David Rodeiro Pazos, spoke.

The presentation of FANBEST started with a round table where its main objectives were presented; specifically the project aims to promote technology transfer to SMEs in the field of blue biotechnology and the exploitation of marine resources. To this end, a network of public and private entities will be created, focused on attracting funds to enable the start-up and expansion phase of the project.

The funds as companies, private investors, participative loans or crowdfunding will be offered by tools and services, so that the technologies and innovations “made in the Atlantic regions” can reach the market turned into successful business projects.

The presentation day has allowed to know success cases related to the sector. Among them, the Blue Growth-Vigo project: Blue Economy and mixed financing. In this case, the presentation was made by the Director General of the Institute for Sustainable Business Growth (ICSEM) Yolanda Molares.
